Marti de Greef Eindhoven, 1951 Wat in de meest recente beelden van Marti de Greef opvalt is vooral het diverse materiaalgebruik zoals brons, hout, aluminium, porselein, en lood. Ook experimenteert hij nog steeds met de nieuwe mogelijkheden van de vormentaal. Deze wordt rustiger maar is nog steeds dynamisch. Compacte vormen hebben meestal de voorkeur en moeten zeker in evenwicht zijn. De compositorische mogelijkheden van het menselijk lichaam blijven hem buitengewoon boeien, prikkelen en uitdagen. Zijn beelden ontstaan niet uit inspiratie of schetsen, maar rechtstreeks uit zijn handen. Dan ontstaan er vormen waar hij op door kan gaan met modelleren tot de dynamiek van het menselijk lichaam wordt bereikt. Na veel kleistudies blijft een enkel model over wat de juiste spanning en aantrekkingskracht heeft om uiteindelijk in o.a. brons te verwezenlijken. Marti de Greef gunt zich de vrijheid om zich artistiek te bewegen tussen realisme en abstrahering, met vorm, figuur en evenwicht als uitgangspunt. Hij werkt niet naar model om zijn expressie een eigen leven te laten leiden. De sculpturen van Marti de Greef zijn sterk fysiek aanwezig en hebben impact op de toeschouwer.

Andrew Painter has in the past exhibited his work in London and the UK through Enid Lawson, now retired. He is now represented by the Linda Blackstone Gallery in the UK and in several galleries all over France. He enjoys showing his work in unexpected venues such as hospitals, and occasionally takes on very large scale commissions, one of which adorned the Galeries Lafayette Department Store in Paris with a "constellation of large striped socks"!

The artist recently exhibited at the Florence Biennale, as well as creating the décor for the Nice Jazz Festival. An artist unlike any other: an original talent with an instantly recognisable style!
